Delta – an interesting environmental calculation

Since Mousetrapper Delta is produced using recycled plastic, it is better for the environment than if we were to use new plastic – another aspect is that our supplier uses renewable energy. But how much of a difference does it really make?
Our environmental manager, David Larsson, has calculated it, and this is how it looks (the plastic shell on Delta weighs 277 grams):

  • If we were to use fossil-based energy and new plastic in Delta, it would result in an environmental impact of approximately 800 grams of CO2.
  • If we were to use renewable energy but new plastic in Delta, it would result in an environmental impact of approximately 378 grams of CO2.
  • However, since we use renewable energy and recycled plastic, the environmental impact is approximately 38 grams of CO2.

This is a reduction of 95% compared to how many products are still manufactured today. So we can really see that conscious environmental work brings clear improvements. And we’re just getting started; more products are on the way.
