Mousetrapper’s current sustainability strategy spans from 2024 to 2026. We are now, in 2026, entering the final third. In this themed series of blog posts, we summarize the year 2025, which focused on Resources.
During the first year of our sustainability strategy, the theme was Climate. We focused on how we could quickly reduce our climate impact. This included transitioning our vehicle fleet to electric, reducing the purchase of capital goods by choosing second-hand where possible, working on the shift from fossil to renewable heating, both in our own facilities and with our key suppliers, and developing a structure to assess our suppliers’ sustainability efforts.
Resources build on the Climate theme
In 2025, under the theme Resources, we went deeper. Much of the work focused on increasing the use of recycled materials, where we have seen significant success. More than we initially thought possible has proven to be feasible to produce using recycled materials without compromising function or quality, which is very encouraging.
By reducing the amount of metal in our products, we have also reduced their weight. This lowers climate impact both in production and transportation, as lighter products require less energy to move. For example, reducing 140 grams of metal in a product resulted in a reduction of 0.5 kg CO₂e emissions per unit sold.
We have also visited more suppliers to explore together how we can create better conditions for our shared sustainability efforts. We cannot solve everything on our own, much of this work must be done in collaboration with our suppliers.
An effective way to reduce climate impact is to ensure that products are used for a long time. Mousetrapper products are known for their durability (some would even say too durable), but we know that extending product lifespan has a direct impact on reducing overall climate footprint.
That is why we have also developed a service where customers can have their old Mousetrapper refurbished and refreshed, thereby extending its lifespan.
By addressing the major impact factors early during the Climate theme, we achieved a rapid and clear reduction in our climate impact. This was important in enabling us to go deeper into resource-related work during 2025.
The 2026 theme: Sustainable supply chain
Work on a sustainable supply chain began already in 2024 under the Climate theme, when we established a structure for evaluating suppliers. During 2025, under the Resources theme, we deepened our understanding by visiting suppliers to gain a clearer picture of where we stand. This now forms the foundation for our 2026 focus on Sustainable supply chain.
It is not simple, in many cases, we are a small customer to a large producer, but we find that most understand that this is a shared responsibility. It will be very interesting to see what we can achieve together with our suppliers during 2026.
